What began as a group of working artists sharing information and painting mediums became an artist’s co-op and then has grown into a business dedicated to reintroducing traditional artist's materials that had become almost impossible to find. Studio Products are made as traditional artist's materials used to be made, by artisans for artists.

In recent times, artists have become yet another group for mass marketers to explore and exploit. Traditional materials have always been more costly to make, relying up more careful selection of natural materials and highly skilled labor in producing them … always in small batches. The mass marketers have introduced synthetics and petrochemical products into the artist's market. Often the sales pitch appeals to overblown health fears or spurious concerns for the environment. This is done solely to boost profits, definitely not improve your painting.

Studio Products artist’s materials and RealGesso panels are manufactured and distributed by the Howard-Daniel Corporation. While we do not have a retail location, we do enjoy meeting with our artist friends and showing them how the materials are made. If you are planning to be in Athens, please give us a day or two notice and we’ll be pleased to set up a time to meet with you.

Most important; if you have any technical questions concerning the materials and their use, please call the Customer Service number. After all, no one is born with the knowledge of how to use the materials of the past five hundred years, so remember that help is just a phone call away.
