Here's a useful kit at a very good savings. The quart can contains a muslin filter bag filled with #1 Singapore Damar crystals. Just pour turpentine into the can and wait for two days. Remove all of the foreign material (bark, bugs and dirt) with the filter bag and you have a quart of highly concentrated Damar varnish. In this concentrated form, it can be added to painting mediums without making them thin and runny, like store bought varnish does.

By thinning the concentrated varnish with an equal amount of turpentine you have a great picture varnish. Just fill the jar on the PreVal and apply a museum-perfect final varnish. Mix the concentrated varnish with three or four parts of turpentine and you have a perfect retouch varnish to use between coats of paint. Retouch varnish brings the flat and glossy areas of paint together and unifies the color without applying too much damar. It dries quickly and improves the grip f wet paint to dry. No more crawling.

PreVal is manufactured by Precision Valve and lives up to its name. No spatters and much, much finer spray than the best spray can. Almost equal to the quaklity of professional spray guns. This is a useful combination.
